Found Object
Found objects photographed on site or table top.
A found object in everyday life is an object that is found by chance or when it is searched for. In art though the object is selected rather than found (objet trouvé), and most importantly it has received a new identity as art by the artist, with or without modification. Historically a tradition has been established how to interpret this type of artwork in this context to distinguish it from an ordinary object that is found. In photography it is usually not a straightforward picture of the object because as always the photo is an interpretation and it is often edited afterwards to adjust its aesthetics or to suggest a specific atmosphere (enhanced by the title or a description), which gives the photographic found object a special place in this realm.
